This is the one-room school house my grandpa was "sometimes" allowed to attend. His dad made him work on the farm and was only allowed to attend sporadically. By the time he was in 5th grade, his dad would disappear for extended periods, leaving him and his younger brothers to work the farm alone and he had to drop out of school. Can you just imagine the truency officers nowadays should such a thing happen?

    wow. that looks like a recent pic. did you go visit wherever this is/was ???

    well, there are plenty of kids who don't go to school still. so, i guess the government still can't keep tabs on everyone. sad.

    My grandpa took this last August when he went back with my Uncle Jim.
